Change the default font of illustrator

You can change the font too. You have to open the character styles in the template you are changing. Then in normal character style (in the options of it) you can change the default font of the template.

Kind regards

Hi all,

Claudia & Steve, thank you so much for offering your help. Before to disturb Steve, I have contacted Adobe technical support, and after an afternoon of research, I managed to sort this out! So i would like to share it with you... It is pretty simple once you know it!

So when your CS5 programs are not working well on your MAC OS (you can't open, you get the "program quit unexpectedly message" every time or crash when closing as it happened to me with AI), the simple thing to try is:

- Uninstall all programs

- login under a new user name (create a new account if you have only 1 account)

- Install CS5 in the new account

For me, all the programs have been working very well without a bug!

I hope this can help others in return...

Richard,

For 2) the CS Live Update should take care of this, I think. (crash on quit issues don't all fall into this area, but it sounds suspiciously like one fixed in that update) That said, if you have already installed the Ps 12.0.1 update, then the CS Live Update will fail to install.

At this point it's best that we get in contact, so I can help you out.

Claudia can you send my contact info directly to Richard so I can help him out?

thx,
steve

Richard,

Check Steve's earlier comment above, about permissions for the "New Document Profiles" directory.

And other (silly and desperate) thought: have you tried reaming out preferences? Easy method: start to launch AI, then *immediately* press and hold Command+Option+shift until Illustrator launches. You won't see any confirmation that it's heard you, but it will delete prefs.

Keep us posted...

Hi guys,

I am getting a little frustrated with 2 issues on AI on my mac:

1- When I open a new page it pops up: "Can't locate the startup profiles".
2- When I close AI, it systematically crashes.

I have searched the forums, contacted Adobe support, re-installed the program, repaired the permissions.... None of this has helped....

If someone has gone through the same problem and been able to fix it, please do let me know, I would much appreciate it!

In fact I have purchased CS5 Design Premium, and NONE of my programs have been working without a bug! The only one I have managed to fix with the Adobe updates was PS.

Thanks a lot!

Steve, thanks for the tech tip; I hadn't run across any difficulties doing this, but I'll remember this if anyone hits the wall trying to do so.

Make sure the permissions for the the directory is set to 'Read & Write'. The installers have been mucking this up for some Suite products.

Mac: [user]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS5/en_US*/New Document Profiles/
Windows: Documents and Settings\(User)\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings\en_US*\New Document Profiles\

* this depends on the language chosen during install

cheers!
